i'd guess that there should be more modding options for the RS6 with the biturbo and all...

Ok, here's a thought for the S4 biturbo. You can pick up an s4 with no engine or a totalled engine for less than 10,000, then you buy the Wicked Motorsports STUPID POWER kit which makes 800 whp (for less than 35000 installed, including the 10000 dollar s4). Or you go the Dahlback route and make 520 whp. The RS4 is great but it's going to cost you what, $80,000? Is it really that much better? And how much tuning will you ever be able to expect for the NA V8 (though it is a great engine)? The S4 is lighter and in APR, or Wicked Motorsports, or Dahlback tuned for gives you either an extra 100, 120, or 400 horsepower. Oh yeah and the s4 is going to be cheaper to insure. Can you really justify the $35000 price gap?

This is really a debate over normally aspirated vs turbo charged engines. The turbo s4 can be tuned and detuned to meet you needs (want great highway mileage? turn down the boost.want a beast of a track machine? turn the boost back up). All I'm saying is that this is far from cut-and-dried like many of you claim. Besides, with the 35000 dollar savings, you can afford TWO Wicked Motorsports cars or 5 or 6 APR machines. That means lots of money to pay a real shop with instead of a craptacular AUDI DEALER! If you really think the warranty matters, you're deluding yourself. Audi/VW warranties are useless. Trust me, I've had one.

[sm=WTFsgign.gif] Last time i checked, crusing on the highway i was in vacuum the entire time (sarcasm). I could hypothetically be running 5psi or 50psi and get the same mpg pretty much.

Im a turbo guy, but i dont think you can beat a rs4, unless you get source a 2.7T one anywhere.

Not so much.Drive a stock A4 and one with a boost controller and no chip (you'd have to be stupid to run this setup since it will run lean as hell) and see which gets better mileage. The more boost, the worse the mileage (because the more air you force in, the more fuel you have to add).

you still dont get that your not boosting when crusing on the highway

Also i run 20psi on a stock chip and run far from lean.
Finally, people with chips often see better gas milage with equal city/highy driving (driven normally, not getting on it non stop)

so i guess that makes you.... 0 for 3

1. Please be civil. We can disagree without being rude.
2. In Montana the speed limit is 75 mph which means you cruise at 80 which means more than 3000 rpms on any b5 a4 which means you're boosting, and in my car you're boosting hard.
3. I happen to have an APR chip and exhaust (as you've no doubt surmised from my sig) and my mileage is worse with the chip than without it.

Best,

JPF
