RE: Troubleshooting a CEL-P0422
LOL its ok, if anything it would be the after cat O2 sensor, the pre-cat O2 sensor has nothing to do with the cat converter. Clearing the code would be a good idea, but i still think he needs the TSB re-flash, its free anyway so what the hell.

RE: Troubleshooting a CEL-P0422
fault codes are only a guide to the problem and not always conclusive ( post and pre ) im not comfortable with that when its the sensor closest to the cat that's at fault so lets take the technology out of the equation, but the fault is probably due to upgrade which is the main point

RE: Troubleshooting a CEL-P0422
bank 1 and sensor 2 ( without showing pictures ) bank 1 is the left side of the engine looking from the front of the car and O2 sensor 2 was a request by the person with the problem ( older cars have 1 O2 sensor and newer ones have 2 or three ) depending on engine size v6-v8/v10/v12, what is your question???

RE: Troubleshooting a CEL-P0422
I'll chime in, the 1.8T is only gonna have one bank.
For instance if you get a fault code for bank 1 sensor 1 its the before cat O2 sensor thats throwing the fault. If you get a fault for bank 1 sensor 2 its the after cat O2 sensor.

RE: Troubleshooting a CEL-P0422
Thanks guys. I'm going to try and make an appointment for early next week. I have to drive out to Davis to 2bennett automotive to get it done... (about an hour drive for me). I'll come back here and post the followup.

2bennett doesn't have the cd's for re-flashing for TSB's, if they find out that the cat is ok and you're still getting a fault code for it, go over to Niello audi in sacramento (my old dealer) and they will fix it up for ya.

RE: Troubleshooting a CEL-P0422
Wish I would have saw your post earlier. [:@]Anyway, here is what happened. I made an appointment over at 2bennett, since they installed my chip. The guy at the counter said it would be a 45 minute job, unless they didn't have the software on hand, meaning they would need to download it from APR. I'm sure you can guess what happened. lol. So, 3 hours later, I drive out of there with no CEL. At first they told me it was called a test pipe program, but then they told me that APR doesn't make a test pipe program for the B5, but they make a "no emmisions" program. That is what they loaded, and so far, the CEL has not returned. The mechanic did say to give it 10 drive cycles though and if it turned on, to call them so they could call APR. If it comes on, I'm going to give Niello a shot.
Thanks for the help.
