also i am thinking about running a k04. can i use my apr 93 chip for that?
bobby
i will need a fpr though right?
You can run a k04 on the software but it will not be tuned right. Best bet is to get GIAC software for the ko4. The k05 giac file runs a 5 bar fpr, so i wouldn't even mess with the fuel pressure if you are gonna run it on Aprs k03 file.

Also look into different plugs, NGK Bkr6e's gapped at .028"-.030", they are pretty darn good and cheap <$2.00, alot of people that ran denso's didn't like them that much, especially the iridium plugs.

also check for boost leaks, they also will tend to do what you described spike to the desired psi, and then the boost fades.

For the software part, its kinda hard to say some people have run it on the software for a while then upgraded software. If you do run it on the APR software i would get a VAG-com and do some logging to make sure you don't blow **** up. The way i do things or at least try to, is make sure i have everything necessary to do the install. You can always sell you APR chip and have some money for a new one, someone would buy it.

Speedometer to stop working that is either a wheel speed sensor or loose conection somewhere

Gas gauge, alot of people have this problem, its a fairly easy fix but takes some time. The sending unit normally fails, but it is on top of the gas tank so you gotta drop the tank. There is a writeup i think, i know Jestnomen on here has done one. Best to do this on an empty tank.

As far as the noise when you get out of gear, wheel bearings will start to make a humming, moaning sound when they start to fail. If its a chirping sound only when you get out of gear then im not sure, kinda hard to say. You can check the wheel bearings by lifting the car and trying to push or pull the wheel from the top or bottom of the wheel.

Hope Im of some help, maybe someone else can chime in too.
