Default TRANSMISSION IS TOAST!

Just my luck...Right before i get my wheels...My transmission freezes up on the freeway...The guy at the shop is taking it apart now and is trying to figure out why its not working properly...I have a B&M Shortshifter and I'm thinking something about the short shifter could be the root of my problem...Can someone tell me if they have experienced problems with their short shifter? Right now my car is stuck in 5th gear, and I can not move the shift **** at all with the clutch engaged...Basically the next step from here after he finds out what the problem is, will be to rebuild the transmission....$3,000. Any help in this area?

P.S If someone happens to have a diagram of the B&M short shifter assembly, that will be great too because maybe we can find a missing part to the actual shifter. Thanx

3000 is a lot, thats for auto tranny. its probably the fork stuck or jump over by taking it out and reseting back on should do the trick. just get new shifter, with reseting. Just dont go for the BS the shops love to give.

ah it might be the small litle ***** on the side of the tranny (3) might have been damaged too. or they are jaming. They are what does not allow you to ingage 2 speeds at same time. it should be a small plate with 3 hills. theyr behind a spring and ball.

PS, You have manual, right?

if your tranny is toast pick up a used one out of a junk yard. it should cost less than $1000+ 600 install. might as well pick up a new clutch while everything is out
