RE: Transmission is gone...
I have 99.5 A4, just car car back from tranny shop Tuesday,48 hun for mine as well, only 122 k's on odometer. Replaced auto/tip tranny, torque converter, pump etc. Whatare suggestions to maintain this money pit. Audi says tranny fluid is liftime fluid, but I wouldny think so. Does anybody do annual tranny flush or similar service?.

The trans tech said to change the fluid every 25 to 30k. Make sure that you go to a shop that completly flushes the system to ensure that all the debris is removed. I had my converter modified. What they do is weld the fins on the converter so that the do not break off and go through the trans. My converter is rated @ 600 ft lbs of torque. Also the valve body
is modified to allow better flow of the trans fluid. Also there are mods to the clutch packs. Im not sure exactly what else is done but it feels alot better. Thats the thing you never really can tell what all is being done in there. But I def feel it. Aparently the fluid used is mineral based and can disapate over time and lead to low trans fluid levels. Thats what I was told by the shop and sure enough I was low on fluid when the trans was examined. ??
