transforming 2.8l a4 into 2.7l biturbo a4
I am going to take my a4 2.8l 30v and swap the engine out for a 2000 s4 biturbo 2.7L engine/5 spd trans I am in search of the engine/trans at the moment trying to find them both cheap I am looking at about $12K-14K target of total conversion with suspension and brake ups the engine search is going well I have found some down in the $3K area that I am looking at w/ trans, the thing now is where am I going to get it swapped? So tomorrow I am going to a few of the foreign car service centers to ask if they can do this type of operation.
right now my 2.8 is stock so I will show you guys what it will take to get there.
deadline will be september 1st for completion.

thanks guys, Im getting about $8K for parts and the other $6K hopefully finishes installation fees and anything else I need.
why get an s4 when I could have a completely custom sleeper on my hands, it isnt all about the rush driving it. it's also about that huge grin on your face after you smoke that (insert jap car here) haha, also someone might pay alot of money for this custom I know I could raffle it off on vwvortex if I had to and I would probably make money off of it.

It's kinda stupid....no offense
With the prices you're talking about, it's pointless, because you could just sell your car and buy an S4 and get all the goodies complete and in good running condition for less.
Want to be original? For what, is it really worth spending the extra cash...then it still ends up being a knock off and not really an S4.
You can beat whatever car you're talking about with a factory or modified S4, depending on the car of course. You'd still have a hard time taking out an STi.
You aren't doing anything worthwhile to swap it.
Spend the cash and get a PES kit and a nice set of Ohlins and sway bars. There ya go, quicker with better handling and would cost you less then an "s4 swap", still original since not THAT many people have PES kits.
But for 6k, bring the car over hear, I'll install it for half that and have it up and running in less than a week.
If you could do it yourself, it might be worth the money, but for 6k it makes the entire project a waste of money.
Sorry it's the truth

Agreed. If you are trying to sneak up on people in an A4, it could be done just as easily in an S4. Debadge the S4 if that's your goal.
You won't get the money back out of a motor-swap car. Get an S4, detail/trick it out and you are more likely to get more money out of it.

You have 15K, OMG....so many things you can do with 15k. Like bhj0887 said, PES is a good idea if you wanna be cheap. But if you're rich, get yourself an S4..... less headache that way. So you wanna be a sleeper hah....I will give you a 1.8T badge.

Everyone will tell you this project is a waste of money...and I agree, but if you really want to do it, good luck and let us know how it turns out. Just a hint, if you EVER plan on replacing the turbos with upgrades, do it when you get the motor. You have to pull the engine to replace them.
