Default Total BlackOut

Parked the car last nite after quite a good drive. This morning everything was dead.
No panel lights ... nothing .... !!

Jump started it. Drove for a while, it seems fine now.
Got it checked from Autozone, they suspect is the Alternator.

I've also been getting the error codes for like a month also.
00849 - S-contact at Ignition/Starter Switch
31-10 - Open or Short to Ground - Intermittent

The error above, started coming after I installed the Greddy Turbo Timer.
Followed the directions where you tap into the VAG Connector.
Greddy Turbo Timer Install

I dunno if the error code I'm getting and the total BlackOut today are related somehow or what.

Has anyone seen this error. What should I check for .. ??
How can I check if Alternator or the Battery is bad .. ??

Appreciate your replies ya'all.
Thanks.

no prob, they don't mention the power drain (I just randomly picked some posts) but the codes are related to the TT install and possibly bad connections. So i guess if you used wiretaps vs soldering that could be your problem.

hmmm ... seems like its related to the Greddy's wiring.
Found a fix here http://cjsupra.kendra.com/GrdyTTfx.html
All they did was swap the Green and Blue wires.

Dunno if it will help mine at all.
[Edit]If that don't work, I will try soldering[/Edit]
