The PSI is more dependent on the tire than the car. The psi on the gas cap, etc, was for the stock tires that came with the car. If you have put upgraded tires, look at the sidewall for the max psi.
If the max is say 44, like mine, I try to run about 40. Its less than the max, but the more psi you have in there the better gas mileage you will get. underinflating the tire will not only hurt gas mileage, but also will cause increased tire wear.
So if your tire is rated 44 max, and you're running 30, your gonna F*ck up your tires and your MPG. So, look at the max, and drop down 3-5 psi from there.
