RE: Tint laws NJ
i believe new jersy is as follows:
none on front windows
any level on back windows
any level on rear window
no metalic or mirror tint (ricey anyway)
i would do the front anyway. I live in NY and you arent allowed to have any tint anywhere, but everybody does. My neighbor has a wrx with like 20% and he hasnt been stopped yet.

No tint on front windows..allowed 35% on rears.. but i have NEVER heard of some1 getting pulled over for having darker tint on the back windows.. just having them on the front.. Many cops dont know the percentage anyway, its just when they see tint on the front they can give you a hard time

I'm in Central NJ, and just about everyone from my car club has front window tints ranging from 5% to 35%. You can pretty much spraypaint the rear windows with black spraypaint and the cops won't care. There's no limit on rear windows, just the actual rear windshield needs to at least have SOME visibility; though I'm sure that's more optimal for you being the actual driver. So far we haven't been hassled all that much with front tints, of course unless we get the cop who's wife b*tched at him in the morning about slacking in bed the night before and now he's pissed for the rest of the day, seeking revenge. I'm sure we've all come in contact with one of those before. Other than that, we really haven't had much problems, though if you wanna be 100% safe, don't tint the fronts at all.

I think it's like a 40$ fine for obstruction of view or some ridiculous bs. I've got 5% titanium all around, cause it kinda matches my "ebony pearl" effect. Of course with titanium you might run the risk of inspection thinking it's mirror tints and failing you, but I'll deal with that in a few years. So far I haven't received a ticket though, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
