timing belt job completed
well i finished my timing belt this morning.... took it all apart last night with a friend and put it all back together this morning with another friend... total time about 7.5 hours... now that i've done it i bet i could do it in 5-6 on my own.
well anyways it was time that it was doen... the tensioner was maxxed out and the belt was showing some real faint signs of dry rot. 81,000 on it. the water pump bearings were notchy so that was time to be replaced too..
i got all of the parts from diesel geek..... I highly suggest them now... everythign was perfect and many of the parts were audi/vw
my car seems to have a lot more power now? and it was missing some before, not all the time but sometimes.... and it isnt now...
i wonder if the streched belt/ slack in the belt could have messed up the timing just enough before to make it miss....
and now that the new belt is on and tight... it has more power and doesnt miss...
but anyways if anyone has any questions while doing the job feel free to ask.... its fresh in my mind

Did you happen to create a tool list? I only have tools for working on GM products and was wondering what I will need. I will be doing the same plus brakes in a couple weeks. Please let me now. Oh and did you use a manual, and if so which one and did it help you out?
Does anybody know if there is a write up somewhere. That would be great and if there isn't one maybe I could do it when I do mine. It may not be perfect but if anybody wanted to add to it that would be great. Of course that is if there isn't one already.
Thanks... and congrats on getting it done and finding some renewed glory.
