Timing belt change and a few issues
Hey all, just wanted to say thanks for the good information on here. Just changed the timing belt on my '02 A4 1.8T and good thing I did -- about half of it was shredded off. Someone took a good chunk out of the belt at some point in its life. Whoever did it before me did a shoddy job too...half the bolts were rounded out, not torqued right, fasteners missing, so on and so forth. Thats always a nice surprise to find[:@] Job wasn't too horrible though aside from a few small things.
Anyways....one problem. Somehow in doing all that my hood release has become inoperable. And of course, having it broken at the lever inside the body would be *way* too easy. Any suggestions on the easiest way to pop it or am I in for an incredibly fun day tomorrow?
