threw some codes yesterday... worked on it today..
yesterday my CEL came on
instant loss of power and sputtering on acceleration
i was suspect of a coil-pack instantly
well, my local dealership is great so i called them up and asked them if they could just pull the codes for me this morning for free
it took a clearence my the mgr. but they said no prob.
so this morning i get 3 codes
1) misfire
2) misfire cyl. 3
3) coolent temp. sensor faulty
1 & 2 were my cyl. 3 coil-pack, easiest thing on earth to swap out
the coolent temp. sensor was a B!TCH !!
hard to get to, hard to get a good grip on, hard to get back in....
...and i won't really know if it's seated in there well enough untill i get the engine temp up and build up some pressure in there.
evidently, if it's not seated in there well enough, it'll blow out when the engine has been running a while and it builds some pressure inside from the heat...
we'll see....

RE: threw some codes yesterday... worked on it today..
Well, if the temp sensor comes flying through your hood, you'll know it wasn't in there tightly enough.
You can usually tell when it's clamped correctly.

just took a 2 mile spin.... smelled coolant, popped hood... coolant spray all over
D@MN IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i was gonna bring it by the dealership tomorrow morn. to have them clear the codes,
i think i'm gonna have them seat the d@mn sensor themselves.. too much of a headache for me
...untill then, a gallon of good'ol h2o will be in my trunk
(luckily it's a 2mile drive from work to home, and another 2 miles from home to dealer in the am... i can get by with just filling it with h20 until then..)

i don't wanna speak too soon..... BUT, i think i got it
there was a grove in the temp. sensor housing that i had missed with the clip earlier...
after my drive i let the engine cool
and upon re-inspection... VIOLA !! a knotch in the housing right where the clip goes that i think i had missed..
re-inserted the temp. sensor, put the clip on (in the right spot i think this time)
and my ride home was
A-OK !! ........... so far...
cross your fingers for me
