Thinking of buying a used A4...how many miles are too many?
#11
It will be my everyday get around car and I don't drive every day. To give you an idea of how little I drive, I have a 2002 Honda Civic, purchased in "04 with 351 miles at the time, and it now has a little over 36K miles on it. So I am just looking for a nice looking car, a bit of an upgrade from my 2 door Civic, one that is reliable and a decent price without a ton of miles. I have no idea when all the big maintenance tickets kick in for Audis so I thought someone could give me an idea about mileage on a used audi. Everyone knows Hondas and Toyotas can go for 200,000 miles. I don't know that about audis.

I bought it with about 150,000 on it and the previous A6 I bought with just over 100,000 so I'm not shy of high mileage.
I read an article a few days ago that talked about 200,000 miles being the new 100,000 miles. So by that logic I'm 32 years old.

Maybe go with a Honda??
If you can spin your own wrenches it's cheaper but still not like owning a Honda. I am making an assumption here that you do not so you will be at the mercy of the shop. Unless you know or can find a good, honest indy shop I'd steer clear of any Audi. They are very nice rides but sort of on the finicky end of the scale. Good luck regardless of what you choose.

B5 a4
I have a 98 B5 A4 2.8 that just rolled over to 260k; bought it with 120k. Nothing out of the ordinary really other than just having to have the starter and alternator rebuilt. Timing belt was done and water pump. I guess a tensioner did break, but just the pad. I replaced that myself.
If you can do the labor yourself it is a lot cheaper. Haven't found anything i couldn't do myself yet.

'98 Audi A4
Hi. In reply to your post... I have a 1998 A4 quattro with 209k. It runs beautifully. I bought it with a little over 200k for $3200. The previous 1 owner had all service records over the 15 years and he put a lot of money into it, so I was hoping to just maintain it with oil changes every 3k synthetic high mileage, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed to get over 300k with this car. It runs great up the mountain roads: I live in Denver and take it to Vail a lot and Blackhawk/Idaho Springs. Buy an Audi - and buy your own parts when it has an issue and you will be pleased!

If you’re thinking about purchasing a new car, I highly recommend considering the Toyota Camry. I recently purchased this car and couldn’t be happier. Comfort, style and reliability are all embodied in the Camry. Impressive performance and economy make every trip a pleasure. My purchasing experience at Toyota UA was absolutely great. The professionalism of the team and their attention to detail made the process of choosing and purchasing a vehicle truly enjoyable. They helped me find the perfect model that met all my requirements. If you want to experience all the advantages of Toyota Camry, I advise you to visit https://toyota-ua.com/ru/avtomobili/camry/ . You definitely won’t regret your decision!
