RE: Test pipe install
It could be an exhaust leak...does it sound like a fluttering noise that changes with rpms? Also, if you start your car when its cold, you might be able to feel where hot exhaust is leaking by placing your hands near the gaskets and such.

RE: Test pipe install
i am thinking about buying a test pipe for my 98. Im just worried about throwing a code, like a check engine light or something. Also is it hard to install yourself and is it really worth it. Do you see alot of power gains, and i still have a stock exhaust, should i replace the exhaust before i do the test pipe or no?

I'm going to be going k04 as soon as a dump my CRF50. My car had the stock exhaust on when i put it on and i noticed a great amount of noise and my turbo spolled up VERY quick. taking the cat nuts off where not a problem then i disconnected the down pipe from the exhaust, pulled the cat as far down as i could took a saw and cut the down pipe as short as i could then pulled the cat and a little bit of the down pipe up through the egnine compartment, then took off the cat and reweled the down pipe back together. attached the down pipe to the test pipe and it slide right in from the engine compartment. and hooked everything back up. the only reason i cut the down pipe and halfassed that part of the job is becuase today my car went to guy who does exhaust work out of his house on the side(anyone located in MA looking for exhaust work i highly recommend him). and it didnt throw a code...go to autozone buy a pack of 18mm non-spark plug foulers and screw them both into the back one, hahaha my air bag light did come one today thoo, dout it had anything to do with the test pipe. and i would replace the exhaust and test pipe at the same time so you can just cut up ur down pipe to get it out, it will save u tons of time not having to undo the down pipe to cat bolts.
