This morning i was driving to work all of a sudden my car starting making some loud sounds...now when you start it or accelerate it sounds so loud , almost exactly like a harley bike or even worse....does anyone have any idea what may have happened ? did I blow something ? maybe an exhaust ? can a bad oxygen sensor do that ? Help please!!

 

Vague. Can you elaborate? Did you get out and walk around it to try and locate the source? From your incomplete description, it sounds like you have a hole in your exhaust system. Maybe it's that flex joint that looks like this:

Yeah, sounds like an exhaust problem.

Probably the flex pipe. I just bought a new one for mine from carstuff.com for $73 shipped for the whole downpipe that has the flex pipe in it.

 

I walked around it...buti am not sure where the sound is coming from....it seems to be coming from underneath the car....it's really loud and gets louder when you accelerate....but it sounds almost identical to one of those loud harleys. Thanks for the tips I'll have a mechanic check the exhaust.

ya the flex pipe is the weakest part of the exhaust system other than the cat flange welds. I bet its one of the two, probably the flex pipe.

So i popped the hood and i think the noise was coming from the part of the exhaust that extends into the engine (the part that has a rusted metallic look). Would there be a flexpipe there ? Do you guys think I need to pehaps replace the entire exhaust ?

 

Not the entire exhasut, go to a mechanic, trusted mechanic if Possible and have them look under the car, if its teh Flex pipe will take him 5 secs to see it. Is your exhaust smeeling sweet when you are at idle at a light, does it smell like the harleys??? If yes then prob the flx pipe as its in front of the CAT.
