Hey guys will a tempeture sending unit stop the car from starting if its bad when the car is warm 2002 audi a4 1.8 5spd AMB

 

i think so my temp sensor is gone too its crazy. usually when you start the car the rpm rises to 1.5-2 until car warms up then it drops to almost 0 right. well my tempsensor doesnot work anymore and when i start the car it has trouble like it doesnt want to start up and when it does in the freezing cold the rpm goes to 0 which car thinks it is already warm when is not.

 

search the forum (subject + body) for ... 'coolant temperature' or something like that... or ECT... I remember posting this a couple of times recently.... it might even be a couple of pages back on this exact forum. it is your ECT sensor. More info can be found using the search button.
