Default temp problem or is it???? HELP

OK, did a t-belt job along with the all the other stuff that ECS provides in the ultimate kit.

Took it for a spin on the freeway and I thought i connected everything correctly but was wrong, after i got the red blinking temp light, i shut off the car waited a few minutes, then drove it 2 blocks to the nearest lit area and got a tow. coolant was everywhere and got it back to my house.

next day:
fixed the leaks (for sure this time), flushed the system with water, drained it and refilled with a 50/50 mixture of g12 and water. everything seems fine but then... and these are my questions:

1) Of the gallon Audi gave me of g12, i only got to use half of it and used half a gallon of the distilled water and together, it was a full reservior tank. Is this the correct amount of coolant mix in the car?

2) The temp gauge sits in the middle the whole time. Before the t-belt change etc, i would go at least a 1/4 of the way and only when i am not moving, say in traffic, it goes to half then when i start moving, it settles at 1/4. Now, it only stays in the middle. I would like to know if this is normal?

3) The coolant reservior doesnt move down yet I can see the fluid gushing in from the little hose. Do I have an air bubble somewhere???

4) The heater still blows and and the a/c still blows cold. Is it possible to reverse the polarity on the sensor that is placed at the bottom of the radiator hose and thus creating a non-functioning sensor???

THANKS!!!!

nope it's wrong man. u shoulda put poured some of the g12 in first while the stopper is still open. then u pour some water in and keep the stopper open until ur lvl is correct. keep switching between g12 and water untill ur lvl is correct. u should have more g12 left over, water should be gone. wut u did left alot of wutever was in it before. hope u didn't run the car too much yet for the stuff to mix. i guess wut u can do now is let sum of the stuff out and repeat the steps above. u prolly should use all the g12 this time cuz it may have drained out while ur correcting the mistake.

Thanks for the reply.

when you are referring to the stopper, i am assuming you are talking about the red phillips plug at the bottom of the radiator. SO, if I have the stopper open while I am alternating between the 2 liquids, wouldnt it just leak out?

I just opened the red plug and drained the coolant from the bottom of the radiator. It only came out to about 1 gallon. How do I get the othe rhalf out?

yes dats wut im talking bout. im talking bout a 2.8l engine, im not too sure bout the 1.8l engines but i think they are the same. i believe the coolant circulates from reservoir to radiator, through engine and through the heater hoses. in dead center of ur car, on the right of ur battery, there are 2 hoses. the one on the left of the 2 has a bleeder hole. squeeze the clamp wid pliers and pull the hose out until u see the bleeder hose is free but the hose should stay on. take the 3 screws that hold the reservoir down. lift he reservoir up. and coolant will come out of the bleeder hole. this will get rid of sum more leftovers in the lines. next put the reservoir down and take off the bigger hose on the reservoir. blow the crap outa that hose wid ur mouth or if u have a air pump that u can hook that onto it and the coolant will start shooting outa the bleeder hole. if u want to keep ur engine bay clean u should hook the bleeding heater hose to another long hose and lead it outa the engine bay. and u rly should flush the system. holler wid anymore questions.

o and when ur done wid the coolant, make sure u turn the heat to high and see if u get hot air. the air has to be hot, not a little warm. run the car wid the heat on high for like 15 min. if ur not getting heat or not enough heat, u got air in the vacuum system. i don't think i said this b4 but make sure the bleed the system. just lift the reservoir tank wid the bleeder hole showing and push the bleeder hose on until the bleeder hole is gone and then replace the reservoir and reclamp the hose

ok, i have ran the car for about 10 minutes hoping for the level in the reservior tank to go down, it did not. the heater was put on blast and on high the whoel time and it still blows hot. the temp gauge got to about 1/4 in that time.

when you are referring to the bleeder lines, are you talking about the (when looking at car, from the front, it would be on the left of the batter) half metal and rubber lines? The both have some type of purge/bleeder holes on top but it is already exposed. i have seen something like this on this forum but have yet to locate the lines. Are they all rubber and does anyting protrude from it?

also, when i did this earlier in the day, both the top and bottom raditaot hoses were hot

no, looking at the car the same way u are, there should be 2 hoses on the right side of the battery, the ones ur talking bout are the a/c hoses. don't touch those lol. the ones im talking bout might be covered up by this big black plastic flexible thingy. u gotta cut the 2 ties that are one it
