Sylvania SilverStars ??
so i blew a headlight the other day ... ( i was surprised to see my display in the dask give me a cool little x'ed-out bulb indicator to let me know... nice job Audi.. didn't even know i had that )
..and at a recent GTG someone recommended Silvania SiverStars..
..has anyone else gotten these and was there really a NOTICABLE difference ??

No you can get better light output from just bulbs. I guarantee it. My dads old school B3 passat went from stock to some 4150K PIAA's and the difference was remarkable... we even did a drive with just one PIAA bulb installed to see the difference. It was very noticable. Much whiter light, too.

I put in the silverstars looking for a whiter light, but was somewhat dissappointed when they pretty much look the same as stock - especially with the stock foglights in there (which I leave on pretty much all the time).
I'd say either go with a high end white PIAA (my buddy had them in his protege, and they looked really good - not blue at all), or install a nice real-deal xenon kit. There was a dude selling the RS6 kits for 300 bucks at oemhid.com, but I don't think that deal is up anymore. Too bad.
