Default SWITCHBLADE KEY PROGRAM

I am looking for serious help in programming my new switchblade remote (3-button) I bought off ebay:

FCC ID: MZ2 410 819 6 4
CANADA 2674 102 666 VDO
4DO.837.231D 05/01

I have a 97 A4. I bought it used and it only came with a master key that has a little light built in (I do not know if it came with a pad remote). When I try to program my new switchblade remote with directions I searched for and found from Craig Liess 2000 "Reprogramming Audi Switchblade Keys" it does not program following the directions. I notice that my front, rear, and sidemarker lights don't do the flash that is described in the directions.

Can anyone help me and explain why those directions don't work in programming the switchblade. I would really like to program the switchblade so that it works both as a key and remote to my car. Thanks for your help.

yea switch blades do not work on the 97 you need the seperate remote, good news is you can turn around and sell your remote for about the same on ebay, but sucks for the time loss, i just ordered a new remote off ebay and i am waiting for it to come. its funny you asked this becuase i have a 98 and i still need the pad. i went to audi and had them run my VIN and they said 98 is a split year (most people know) and that the first half and down to 96 use the pad, but they said its really easy to program so when you get it talk to me i will probably have mine by then

Ummm what makes you say switchblades don't work on 97's? That isn't true. I used to own a 97 and bought a switchblade remote and it worked just fine.
