Default surging...

the audi is having some boost surging issues. Under full throttle the boost guage goes from 8psi-21psi and back and forth and does this constantly till i am just cruising, pretty annoying. It also does it anytime when the turbo is making any boost. I have a forge dv. Only about 15K on it. I haven't looked at it but as far as that and looking for hoses that are bad i am done thinking of what could be gone. i still have to look at the dv tomorrow. anyother ideas.also its astock turbo.

I was told that when you get your car chipped, the boost can surge. I was told you can remedy this by 3 ways:

1. Change the spring in your dv to the yellow one (you should peak maybe 18 psi thereafter)

2. Get a manual boost controler and add maybe 2 psi to peak around 23-24 psi (I am no mechanic, this is just what I was told that it evens out the surge). But you need to get a good quality one. I think the bleeder one is the one to always go with.

3. Change your factory wastegate to the n75h/n75race(boost control valve). http://www.034motorsport.com/index.php?cPath=21_33

*just read your sig. I have no idea then.

no misfire - vag com found no CEL's, i definetly know what that feels like i have replace all ignition coils over the year, they are pos!
gauge - no
dv - still need to check
mbc - naw maybe if i had a fmic and bigger turbo
n75 - did that about 1 year ago (maybe it is bad)
maf - about a year new, i inspected it for dirt/oil/ect and clean it today.
i have run the car on the chip for 1.5 years with 0 problems. when it stops raining i will check the dv and if that is good i will replace the n75. i also check all the holes and replaced one that connects to tb.
thanks for the input guys anymore ideas

Should have the yellow spring in the dv. Could also be a vac line problem, but your boost gauge would show that if there was (be less than 18-20in hg when warm).

As for a mbc, dont know why people think they are bad. Makes 0 sense to me. They can make the boost curve much smoother, longer and nicer. They hep and you dont even need to increase the boost to gain the effects. And also, its HIGHLY unlikely your n75 is bad.

the gauge shows -20 hg on the dot.
as for the color of the spring, i don't remember it has been so long since i have took the dv apart. seem like that will be the first thing i check. thanks cincytt.

ok so i took apart the dv. i have the yellow spring in it. it had some oil inside the valve so i just clean off the excess with a rag. put it in, and now my boost surge is gone except now i am only boosting to 10-11 psi. wtf. so i put the dv in the other way. same thing.i wonder if i put it back together wrong i put the spring in first. awww f did i. well i am going to run out and see if it will go the other way real quick. f
