Default Stupid o2 sensor

So I have to put in two new o2 sensors and so far I have found that it will cost me around $250. However, My state doesnt have emission checks and i am wondering if I should just save the money slowly so it doesnt hurt me so much. Because buying stupid parts hurts me.

o2 Sensors are important in determining if your air fuel mix is lean or rich. Don't skimp out. If you run with bad 02s long enough you ruin your cat converters and probably your engine (as I found with an old ranger I bought). Just bite the bullet and replace them.

The O2 sensor is not soley for emissions. $250 is a lot less than you might end up spending if it fvck's up your engine. Like wood_e said, just replace them.

Has anyone done a DIY on them? They are the right and left behind the cats.

They should be attached to the cat. Look in your engine bay... follow the turbo down the cat. You'll see one really close to the turbo on the cat, and the other way down the cat.

I have a 2.8. I thought there were two pre-cat and two post-cat o2's on the 2.8? It shouldnt be anything I would have to take to a certified mech should it?

Code = P1199. And both sensors had "heater performance codes" dont really know what that means. It is suppose to me the right and left after the cat.
