Default Strange Idle Problem

Hi All,
I have a 2001 1.8T, Tip. Everything is great with this car except one issue that has me a bit stumped. After any length of drive, when I come to a stop, the car refuses to hold a steady idle. It usually bounces quite rythmically between 800 rpm and 1100 rpm. If I place the car in Neutral or Park, everything smoothens out with a nice stable idle> Initially, I thought it might be electrical load, AC load or some combination of the two, but the fact that it idles nicely when I go to Neutral or Park has me wondering if it might be Torque Converter related?

The car has 101K miles on it but has been very well maintained. It also has an APR chipped ECU and chipped Tiptronic module.

Any thoughts

Thanks

Neil M.

Neil,
Did you have your timming belt serviced yet and when was the last time the car was scanned for codes.

My car was doing that recently and finally the Mass airflow sensor died.

Rally 2,

Yes the timing belt was done at about 75K. It may just be that the ecu needs to calibrate, if thats even possible. I fixed a vacuum leak the other day so maybe it wil improve over the next few days.
