Default Stock Tape Deck

Hey, how do i get the stock deck out of the dash? it wont turn on, but lights up at night, and i want to have it fixed.

i would prefer to stay with the stock deck so i can utilize the 6 disk in the trunk, but if it is broken, i will try to find an aftermarket cd deck that will use the 6disk...

any ideas on why it wont turn on (checked the fuse, not the problem)

how do i get it out?

Does it not light up at all or does it not allow you to use any featueres?
Have you done any mods lately? Did you disconnect the battery?
The radio may be in safe/lock mode. If so, you will need to "unlock" the radio with your code.
If I recal... If it is completely dead, then you'll need the special tool for removal - I forget what it's called but it's two slim pieces that slide along both sides of the radio and unhook it from the console.

There is also a fuse on the BACK of the radio itself. Most likely the culprit.
You will need the correct radio keys to get the radio out. Just take it to the dealer, the fuse is like 65 cents to buy.

Buy one off ebay, they go really cheap. I've seen them for like 40 bucks.

i dont really need the keys myself, ive done all my stereo work in the past on other vehicles, but id feel more comfortable having someone change the deck for me if i decide to do so.. ill do all the other stereo stuff like sub and amp...

I've seen factory decks for that cheap. The keys are like 10 bucks from crutfield or ebay. If you decide to go aftermarket, just buy a harness and adapter plate and it should be no harder than any other install.

well, i know its that easy, but i want the stock deck working...

i suppose if the keys are readily available my local freemans will have them to pull it and check the fuse on the back, if thats not it i suppose ill have them bench it to see if there is a problem with the wiring, and if thats not it, ill replace it with aftermarket...
