Stereo Replacement
I have a2002 Audi A4 3.0L Quattro with the Symphony Stereo. I want to hook up sirius in my car, but dont want the extra equipment. Will the newer Symphony II's that support Sirius work with an older car? Will it fit in the slot? also, do I need a harness?

RE: Stereo Replacement
I just realized you said "don't want all the extra equipment" so therefore anything past here in this post is worthless.
I just installed Sirius into my '03 w/ Symphony that didn't support it stock. I used a Sportster4 unit and manufactured my own bracket to mount it. I am also using the fm modulator that connects into the stock antenna to give you a direct line in (basically). The sound quality is as good as my Sirius in my Dodge that runs through my Kenwood deck (direct line in there, no FM at all).
Here's some pics. The wires can only be seen from the pax seat when you first get in. Plenty clean enough. The ONLY downside to this setup is that the Sportster4 has a VERY bright blue light around the dial at night. So bright that I just shut it off right now. My next project is either a bracket that I can rotate down so the light doesn't shine on my face, or a cover that just slips over that part of the unit to block the light. Bracket is made from .032" 304 stainless steel. I can send you a PDF 1:1 of the bracket and also of the keys to remove the deck if you don't want to buy them. I was able to borrow the keys from a local installer and then I modeled them out in solidworks so I could make them myself down the road. Should probably just laser 1000 of them and give them away.
