Default Starting noise

Hello, I've got a problem, I think. I have a 97 A4 1.8t. When it's cold outside and I turn my car on it makes a weird noise kind of like a "mmmm" huming noise or something. And if I turn my steering wheel to either left or right, the noise seems to get louder. Does anyone know what this can be? Can it be the steering pump going bad? Not really sure about this one, any help will be very helpful. Thanks in advance!

check your level of power steering fluid, the pump may be going bad or you just may be low. Also its normal to have some noise on the extremes of each turn. If it happens when you just turn the wheel then i'd check the level. If its low, add some and go from there.

Where do I check for the steering pump fluid? If it the reservoir that says "Mineral Hydraulic Fluid Only", I just checked it and it's VERY low. What kind of fluid should I use? Where can I pick it up? Sorry if I sound retarded but I'm very new to Audi's LOL I don't know where anything is...
