SS Install Writeup
I got the Diesel geek ss off of thier website, and its sweet. the shifts are way more solid, very nice piece of machinery. anyway...
the real pita, like everyone knows, is gettin the bolts off way under the dash, lukily for me once i broke it loose, i could just spin it off with my finger, so yea. getting them back on was hard tho. i had to grease the bolt to stick it to the wrench so i could get it started, then i spun it down with my finger and used my wracheting box end wrench to tighten it down.
my shift **** was way old so the threads inside the shift **** were shaped differently than the threads on the shifter, so i had to take a pipe wrench to get the shift **** as far down as i wanted it. i didnt re-thread the threads, oh no.. dont get me wrong, its just that the threads on the ss were newer, so i had to force the threads on the **** to form to them, which worked out nicely, cuz i could get the shift **** way down on the shifter, giving me an even shorter throw.
i also modified the boot a little to get the **** lower. i hacked off most of the plastic part that goes around the rod of the ss, letting me get the boot low enough to get the **** all the way on to the shifter.
definatly reccomend it, i got the shifter on sale on the site for 190, cuz of the holiday

RE: SS Install Writeup
I never got the appeal of a short shifter. I drove a B16 Civic with one. It always just felt like it wasn't fully into gear, and I always got nervous letting out the clutch, waiting for the grinding noise to start.
Ah well, saves me $200.

RE: SS Install Writeup
I installed mine...
I think the hardest part was putting little square on top of the linkage, it took me like 20 mins to do it. I ended up popping it back out and taking the whole assembly off and attaaching just the shaft and yoke then putting the assembly back on. It was damn near impossible without doig that way. Now I want to adjust the throw, so I'm going back in.
