Spark Plugs
Time to replace my spark plugs that the dealer put in at the 80k service. (Said to replace in 40k miles and I'm about there.)
My question... obviously those aren't copper plugs, theyre platinum. Everyone says don't run platnium plugs in Turbo cars, but OEM plugs are platinum..
Now I know I could go with NGK bkr63, .032gapcopper plugs and have to change them alot, but can platinum ngk pfr6q plugs really be that bad for my 1.8t, esp. since theyre OEM??

RE: Spark Plugs
Copper is best for disipating heat and is the ultimate conductor for electricity. Boost=heat. But, the stock 7-10 psi aint no thang. Its when youre near 20 psi+ that youd want to consider copper and a heat range cooler plug than stock (BKR7E). Search, this topic has been beaten to death over and over.

RE: Spark Plugs
From cinytt (on other post): All 1.8ts should run the same gaps.
Spark Plugs
OE Plugs: NGK PFR6Q - .032" gap
For Stock Cars - .032" gap:
[ul][*]NGK BKR6E[*]Autolite 3923[*]Denso Iridium IK20[/ul]
For Chiped Cars - .028" gap:
[ul][*]NGK BKR7E[*]Autolite 3922[*]Denso Iridium IK22[*][/ul]
I prefer the ngk bkr6's and have used the autolites also, work fine aswell. Just get copper plugs and change them every 15-20k miles.

RE: Spark Plugs
15-20k before having to change copper plugs is not bad at all. I was under the impression it was a lot shorter than that. If thats the case, I'll def just get the NGK BKR6E plugs

RE: Spark Plugs
I change them every other oil change personally (10-13k miles). If you do it at ~15k, you end up spending less and getting another 5k miles out of 3 sets of copper vs one set of stocks.
