So my car almost caught fire

RE: So my car almost caught fire
Well, $600 later I got my car back. Fried the ignition control unit and part of the harness. Most of the cost was for labor becuase they had to search through a salvage yard for parts for 4 hours. The mechanic made me a special mount for the ignition control box on my air intake plastic which looks sweet. I can get pics tomorrow if anyone wants to see it. (kinda hard to explain the setup)
Car runs fine now and I just ordered my APR chip so everything is good now.

Yeah, you def should have used a fire extinguisher and not water. It would be a pain to clean up, but it won't crack any hot turbo/exhaust components.
Glad to see you're all set though

$600?!?!?! seriously? they charged you for their time searching for used parts? for the amount they charged you, you could have gotten the part new. I don't get it.

ugh same thing happened to me with my wrx...had my amp wire wrapped in this shrink wrap and my zip tie somehow came undone and the next thing i know after some "spirited" driving i pop the hood to see the thing on fire because it had been resting on exhaust side of the turbo
