Default So the car chokes and turns off.

I noticed that this happens after rain or after a big temperature drop and drop in humidity. The car turns off and does not turn on for a few cranks, takes about 5minutes to get it running again. It happens when the car is still cold, once the car is up temp it does not happen. My mechanic said it could be the chip feeding too much gas choking the car, but im not too sure on that. It could be the ignition box, most times I dont get the acessory option when turning the key. No idea what it is, this is the second time this has happened to me, in the middle of the street, its embarrasing to push your car to the side and try to get it running. The previous owner said that it is a bad ground from the battery, but i really dont think so either, all the grounds look good. Tommorow my mechanic is going to open up and look at the coils and the spark plugs, hook up a diagnostics machine to the car and see whats up. But if any one can speculate or know what it is, please chip in.

Sounds like a short. Typical is that dew water or condensation gets on high voltage wires, coil or distributor. As the car doesn't have a mechanical distributor, that leaves fewer possibilities.

VAGed?

I forgot to add, when you try restarting the car, you hear a very fast clicking check engine light flashing and nothing happening.

Could be short in wiring between ECU or bad connection as easiest things to try. As you have had your car chipped, first check to make sure that the connections at the ECU are clean and dry. Try some contact cleaner and make sure all pins are straight and carefully reconnect and do a throttle body adjustment

Otherwise you will need access to a VACom to run some more electrical testing.
