Slight hesitation at idle/jerks under throttle
hi everyone, this is my first post here
although its my first post, i have tried to search for my problem extensively with no real results...perhaps im not putting in the right words in the search field.
anyhow, i have this 1998 a4 1.8t with 92k milesthats been giving me some problems. this does not happen all the time, but enough to need fixing.
at idle, the car starts to hesitate and then it jumps up to over 1k. then, when trying to accelerate, it hesitates and jerks even with the pedal all the way down. it progressively gets worse until i turn the car off, then turn it on again. i replaced the spark plugs thinking it would be the problem, but the problem persists. im wondering if its the fuel filter or a gunky throttle body. there is no cel comming on...what could it be?
thanks in advance for any replies!

RE: Slight hesitation at idle/jerks under throttle
I have a relatively similar problem. No engine light codes, but took it to dicount or w/e and had them read and there was hidden a knock sensor code. That may be a cause for crappy engine output w/e, i just have to clean the sensor or replace it and then ill know, but from what i told it could be a cause.

ok
i cleaned the throttle body, replaced the fuel filter, added some sea foam to clean the injectors and nothing helped...
it turned out to be the fuel pump relay that needed replacement. runs beautifulnow.
