skid plate
The connectors holding my skid plate onto my car are broken according to the audi dealership and since they don't do structure repairs there I have to go some place else. Since its a Saturday and everyone is closed I was just wondering if anybody has had this issue before. The dealership says that the person who fixes it is going to have to put a new skid plate on and re-mount the the connectors and put new hardware in. they also said the will have to drill new holes it in too. Does anybody know exactly how much something like this might cost??? (car isnot under warranty) I have been to 2 different places trying to get my oil changed and nobody will do it.

RE: skid plate
I had my oil changed and they broke those connectors. The skid plate hung down...caught a snow bank and ripped off, so i had to get it all replaced. A smart oil shop wont change your oil because they are afraid u will blame the broken hardware on them and stick it to them (like I did). The skid plate is about 200-300$, about 180 on ebay if u can find it. The hardware kit can be found on ebay for around 30$ i think, but its about 60 from a dealer. These are real rough numbers, i dont have the quote or my research in front of me.
I actually took the money Jiffy Lube paid me and ran with it.....so i never replaced the skid plate. You will get varying opinions on this im sure, but I dont think it really affects anything, just makes a dirtier engine compartment which really sucks. I would take it off and go get your oil changed, then figure out what you want to do.

go with the W8 piece, more affordable than the orignal piece and same fit. I had mine rip off on a racoons head. went with the W8 piece until i got p.o with removing it all the time and just left it off.

RE: skid plate
thanks for the info guys I really appreciate it. Does anybody know how much labor will cost at a dealership for something like this (ball park figure of course). I really don't wanna do it on my own unless its going to cost an arm and a leg to get it done at a dealership. Thanks

RE: skid plate
why not just drill a few screws in and fix it yourself? I know it sounds crude, but im sure you can ghetto rig it to stay in place? I had a couple screws missing on my '01 and only had 2 or so screws holding it on with no problem........... just a thought...

RE: skid plate
Just take a look at it yourself. It just uses a bunch of 1/4 turn screws. Not sure about the B6, but for the B5, it has two screws in each fender lining, three in the front, and three in the back. Easy as pie![sm=smiley20.gif]
