Hmm, is there a downside to using the VW sensor? And what do you mean the vag showed it was "sluggish"

Did it throw a code? I don't have any codes, other than the one I posted about... but even it doesnt throw a light -- it was just stored. I'd do anything to get better mileage though!
By the time it throws a CEL, it is way out of specifications and essentially dead. Mine, though not tripping a cel, had oxygen readings all over the place.
There is no downside to changing it for the VW sensor, except that it is damn hard to get out.

Could I do the belt at home or should I take to a dealer? I'm sure it can't be too hard, but it is an audi! I also am replacing steering knuckle and hub bearrings this weekend, might as well do a belt. Done the brakes and new tires. She gets her oil changes once a month, only b/c I drive 200 miles a day. When I say "I'm replacing" I really mean my dad or boyfriend is doing it, but it's getting done.
Your commute is like mine

If you are mechanically inclined, or have a mechanically inclined father and have the tools, then it can be done at home. It is a 6 hour job however, and you will be changing the water pump, idler wheel and tensioner at the same time.

I would not have a boyfriend do it. If he screws up, you are looking at 3000 dollars to rebuild the head. That puts a lot of strain on a relationship. Better to have your dad screw up than your boyfriend.

Oxygen readings all over the place? How do you know that? VagScope?

I don't know how to work the scope...
