Siping Tires
Has anyone ever siped their tires out there? I just got off the phone with Discount Tire and they'll run all 4 tires for $48. According to them it should increase traction by 30% or more without adding any road noise on dry pavement.
My question is for anyone that has had their tires siped is, have you seen any performance loss on dry pavement? I've got some very aggressive all weather falcons that are pretty bad on the snow. They're sweet for water but on snow the grooves get packed and they are worthless.

Here's a better write-up for siping: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siping
Here is a decent picture:
A 1978 study by the U.S. National Safety Council found siping improved stopping distances by 22 percent, breakaway traction by 65 percent, and rolling traction by 28 percent [1].

RE: Siping Tires
oooooh yea ive always had my ttruck tires siped, it actually quiets the ride down (in MT truck tires) and believe it or not made the tires last longer, i say go for it, thats a good deal... usually they charge a bit more than that on used tires because they have to remove all the little bits of rocks and debris out of the tread, i guess that stuff will ruine the siping machine??
