Simply bolt on modifications... Risks?
Car: 2002 Quattro 1.8T 5-Speed
I know it sounds ricey... But I want to hear the Turbocharger and Diverter Valve more during driving. I suppose a hard intake inlet pipe would take care of most of this, however, I'm concerned about doing ANYTHING to the car, as I know almost nothing about it. Are there any risks associated with simple bolt on modifications like that? Has anyone ever heard of there being a problem, directly linked to a modification as simple as a hard intake inlet pipe?
Any input is greatly appreciated!

intakes might actually rob you of power, sucking in hot engine bay air
bolts ons arent really bad for our cars when their quality stuff and installed currectly
but theres not alot of bolt ons for out cars

u can upgrade ur diverter valve and u will get some nice sound from that, as for an intake u can get SOME power from a kn drop in filter. the stock air box is actully pretty good.

I've been told the K&N drop in filters screw up the MAF because it's so close to the airbox. I guess the oil that's on the filter itself ***** the MAF up. I wouldn't go that route, I'd leave the airbox stock with a paper filter. I didn't know about the K&N crap until after I droppd $55 to go buy one, I'm going back to paper in the next week. Speaking of K&N, how long would it actually take for that oil to screw up the MAF? I've had mine in for 3 months and I feel like that might be too long, hope I haven't screwed anything up.

Yes, I've looked into the Carbonio unit... Well worth $370 in my opinion. It's a bit more than I was looking to do though, I was mostly just trying to go with a Hard Pipe to replace the stock unit, such as the Neuspeed unit.
And putting the Diverter Valve in backwards? Care to elaborate? Haha
