Service INSP
Hey lads/ladies,
I'm pretty sure this is nothing more than a service reminder, but it's the first time I've gotten the message and the explanation my manual gave is complete ****! What exactly does this mean? It appears under my milage clock when I turn the car on and flashes there for just a few seconds.

Ln1 or Ln2? It's basically a way for the dealer to get your car in there for expensive work. (filters, spark plugs, oil, etc). I know 96 and 97's need a vag-Com to clear the code, not sure about yours.

It looks as if I can clear the service indicator myself..but isn't this telling me that I need to change my oil something? The manual says that I should not reset the service indicator unless service has been done, otherwise it will be incorrect.

Yeah, it just pops up at predetermined intervals. On mine you can reset it by a combination of pulls and pushes on the clock and trip odometer while turning the key on and off. Refresh my memory, what year is your A4?

RE: Service INSP
Well if you are doing your own maintenance, who cares if it is incorrect? The thing just counts down from a certain mileage and then goes off. There is a seperate one that goes off "oil" for a needed oil change.

RE: Service INSP
The thing pops up according to mileage.
If you follow the Audi maintenance schedule, take it in for an oil change.
If you do your own maintenance, disregard (clear it) and do your own thing.

RE: Service INSP
Ya, no VAG-COM needed to clear it. Just some pushin and pullin here and there..or so the manual says. I think I'm gonna take her in for the first check-up I do so I can have em look at the timing belt, plugs...etc. Plus I still haven't had that weird squeeking noise checked out and that's long over due for a look-see. Slim was tellin me it might be a good idea to change my fuel filter. I was thinkin of just doin this myself..anyone done this? Favorite fuel filters?
