RE: scrap/clunk from wheel well
think id be able to do it in a college parking lot with a buddy? we both are very mechanically inclined, and have some of the basic tools aka wrenches, socket wrench kit, allen keys, and so on. he has a car so we can go get the supplies. since there is clicking do you think the joint needs to be replaced as well? im going to call the audi dealership near me tomorrow and see if they have one i can buy. would order from ecs but need it in tomorrow so i can drive home for spring break.

also if i cant do the repair myself tomorrow, do you guys think it would be safe to drive back home, and then do the repair? i live 150 miles of straight highway away. im assuming once i drive that distance i will probably need to replace the whole shaft.

driving on them can be raelly dangerous, i did that intown driving the it broke completely off wheel just was usless i did 15 mph all the way home and it was freaking scary. If your at speed and it goes you can do a hell of alot fo damage not only to the car but to you and the ppl on the highway, if you have AAA do it that way if you need to bring it home.

I wouldn't reccomend anything longer than a short mile or two trip or less.
150 miles is a hella long way to go with the problem you are having.
If you dont mind being stranded on the highway or getting into a bad accident, go for it. Otherwise, dont risk it.
