Default Scary Problem

So yesterday morning I woke up and went to get breakfast for the girlfriend...Got in the car and backed out. Dropped her into Drive only to see the engine rumble a little bit and would not drive forward when the gas pedal was depressed. Turned the car off and back on and drove fine all day with no problems. NO CEL is on. Haven't run a VAG yet as I figured maybe it was user error...

However, just went to go get some drinks for our lunch...same exact thing happened. Turned the car off and problem disappeared.

I had this checked out before I purchased it and it got a clean bill of health.

2002 A4 Quattro Tiptronic 1.8T

What do I do?

Also, just curious if the engine is supposed to heat up as fast as it does. Granted I come from about a 100 HP 4 banger...but boy does this car just warm up quicker than most I have seen...

I'm guessing you are still under warranty right?

Check the transmission fluid. This should be done by a qualified shop. PITA

I wanted to add that it is not that the car wouldn't drive forward it just went extremely slow at about 1000-1500 RPM's....and literally if I turned it off and back on it was like what just happened was a complete fluke!

I don't have my Bentley here at my ladies so if anyone can give me an idea of what I am looking at I would appreciate it. Estimate on the cost if you have an idea would be great too!

Thanks for the responses...I guess I am gonna have to find a good mechanic in the area that has experience with Audi's and have them run the tests to see where the codes are arising from...from the Bentley manual I know I cannot do this myself...this sucks...I got a clean bill of health and have had this car for 4 days!
