Default Satellite Tuner XM or Sirious?

I have an 04 A4 3.0 with the pre wired satellite radio, W/ shark fin ant! My local Audi dealer wants $750 for the tuner (300)+(450) to install. This sounds like an easy installation through the trunk but is there a better place & price to buy the factory tuner? Also with the two satellites merging should I wait?

Get either from Ebay. Got my OEM Sirius unit from there. Super simple install if the radio is sat ready. Plug it in on thedriver side of the trunk, and move a plug over one spot in the front passenger kick panel. They have communicated that even after the merger, all units will continue to be supported. My guess is that they will share the best of each others' programming. I have XM in the passat and Sirius in the A4. Love my XM.....

I wanted to do that, it really is a cheap install, and the tuner isnt to $$ on ebay but what happens if you dont have a sat ready head Unit do i have to up grade or what.

I heard a rumor that xm and sirrus are merging. so maybe they will combine the content into one "super sattelite radio".

Yep, to use the factory sat tuner you need to have a factory sat ready radio (head unit).

I'm already pissed enough at XM for adding commercials - once they merge with Sirius and have a monopoly it can only get worse [:@]
