safest way to pay a private seller?
Ok, I've search here and google without a good answer.. so maybe my search terms are bad. Anyway, how do I pay a private seller safely and quickly? I was thinking a check, but how can I prove anything once its cashed. How have you done it in the past? It's not that I don't trust the seller, as much as this is a good amount of money to just hand over. Should I just go to the bank and withdraw 10k in 100 dollar bills..

get a bank draft, or a money order. whatever bank you use will have a record of a bank draft (or banker's cheque), and a money order has a receipt. those are the safest ways IMO. carrying around 10 g's in cash is asking for trouble if you ask me.

Well with the check, I figured I'd have to wait until it clears.. was wondering if there was a quicker way. So on the check I should just put.. Audi a4 on the note line?
I wasn't serious about the 10g's in cash, I was imagining myself swimming in it while I was typing. It's not much, but I've never had more than maybe 1-2k in cash at a time.

Get a Cashier's check. It's guaranteed to clear for the seller. That's how I paid for my Audi.
