It doesn't smell like, "rotten eggs"......they're having fun at your expense.
The pipe is illegal in most states due to smog and emissions regulations.
If your car is Quattro, there's a very likely chance that the car would pass smog testing.
The reason is that you're ok with emissions at idle with the test pipe.
The machines are not able to test AWD under full load, so you have no worries.
If you have a FWD with a test pipe, it will be tested under full load and not pass emissions standards.
Not to mention, in CA, you do not have to smog new vehicles until they are older than 6 years.
You won't even be glancing at a smog machine until after 2012.
As far as the gas smell goes, it's not bad in my opinion.
If you have the car in the garage, you will smell it almost immediately.
If you stand at the rear of the car in the area of the exhaust, you will smell it.
Otherwise......at almost no other point......do I smell gas / exhaust with the test pipe.
Too much bad information floating around on the subject of test pipes.

Thanks man, I thought it was lil extreme to say it would smell like Rotten Eggs. And we will be pretty much running the same setup except I will have Revo and not Apr, so you would know the best

Oh well from my understanding the test pipe will free things up at the turbo, but once that exhaust gets to the stock DP-back it gets restricted. I absolutely and completely appologize for my incorrect assumption evoic. But I did say "not a whole lot".. i know it will help, i just didnt think it would be significant without a wider dia. exhaust.
You are my hero!
Airf my exhaust is DP back.

I'd be willing to bet that I got more of a gain from my Test pipe with OEM exhaust than you did with your aftermarket full set-up.

Well, put the aftermarket exhaust on as well, and you will get even more gains.
Looks like the overall difference in PEAK HP was about 5hp. for the test pipe.
Not bad, but if you put on an aftermarket exhaust you should get 5-10 more peak HP from the exhaust in addition to the test pipe.
So while it does have some gains, an aftermarket exhaust will give more as well along with it.

Ace - what do you mean overall difference of "PEAK HP" ??
Also, regarding your claim of an additional 5-10, "Peak HP" from adding an exhaust.....
Show me a dyno proving your claim.
Not that I don't believe you - I'd just like to see it on a chart for the sake of comparison.

RE: SAD BUT HAPPY.....TEST PIPE, REVO, DVSFiT
Where are you getting your chart from?? Dyno? Those #'s are very impressive i must say.. 20 hp/50tq seems outrageous just for a test pipe, but i guess it is what it is! I think I know what my next mod will be.

I provided a link to the dyno chart.
Again....this is power at the WHEELS, it is even higher at the crank, but we all know crank is for show - wheels are for go.

Peak HP, meaning the Highest rating, at the top of the HP curve, around 5500rpm.
