I said my car, that weighs 3000pd.

Plus, try and sell your gutted A4 with S4 motor... you'll lose your shirt. Buy the S4, drive it for years, and you'll lose normal depreciated amount when you sell... an A4 with S4 motor, you'll lose TONNES.
I'd never buy a car with a swapped motor.
Apples and oranges man... apples and oranges.

Guys what if he paid 8K for his A4 or even got it for free from a relative or something? 4500 for an S4 motor and Tranny isn't bad. so even 2K in labor it is about 14500 for basicaly an S4. Still cheaper than regular.

And 4500 for the motor and tranny still leaves him short a lot of components before they are in his car!
And audiboy... what is stopping you from doing to same weight reductions on an S4? You'd still be left with better brakes and stock suspension that would make a lot of people happy. 500 hp on our brakes is not happenin'.

RE: S4 engine swap
most guys or girls that mod cars heavy are not interested in the resale value after the fact. just the performance of the vehicle. Tom will never get out of his car what he put in but i'm sure he has no intention of selling either. If you think about it, why do any swaps regardless of what they are (b18 into a civic, 4g63t into a mirage, rb26det into a 240sx, chevy small block into a miata) if resale was on the mind. what a crazy sleeper that would be if someone slapped an s4 motor in a plain a4, and you wouldn't have any where near the amount of money invested in it if the research is done right. On top of all that, projects are great to some people. They find it more fun to take something quick and make it really fast than buying something fast and making it faster. It's the wrencher/tuner in all/most of us. engine swaps are great fun if you enjoy that kind of stuff. i've helped my buddies drop and pull motors a couple times, always a good time. Drop in a 2.7t and make it scream. and i have seen all motor 4 banger hondas and single turbo DSM's (which the stock AWD ones weigh in at 3150) in the 10's, and not all racecar stripped either. if they can do it, a 2.7t can do it.
