Hey, i came across a friend with a S4 motor...does anyone know the difficulty of the swap?...What all do i need to do for the swap?...And a little about the S4 motor..is it 6 cylinders?..twin turbo..single turbo?..pritty much anything and everything about the swap..and the motor...

Haha. dont do that swap youll have to change a **** load of stuff. ex yoll have to fabricate your own motor mounts new tranyn new gauges new differentials new driveshafts new suspension and alot more sdtuff

 

i herd it wuz all pritty much bolt on except wireing harness n a bunch of stuff..like i didn't have to get new motor mounts..i could just take them from an S4...because i have a Doner chassy its a 01 S4 that their giving me for some stuff so pritty much its an S4 but i can't take the car n put it in my name...so if i have to change suspention i can just take the ones from the S4..but can't i use the suspention from the A4..isn't it the same?..so i don't think it would be that hard would it? because i have a doner S4?

 

def dont swap! it will be a big pain. u have to do so much other stuff, like if its a 5 speed tip. or 6 speed manual it will be difficult to transform that into an A4 model.

 

cheaper buying an s4 than doing a conversion.

 

Why cant you get that S4 in your name?

I wanted to do that too for a while but it would be extremly hard and time consuming.

 

Hey all, I'm new to the forum. We got a '99 1.8 T A4 that's pretty much dead. The body is still in good shape so we don't really want to sell it. Any comment on what should be done? To sell or turn into a project car? I'm planning on doing a S4 conversion, but not sure how much it will cost and how complicated it would be. Any help will help thanks.

 

There was just a thread on this, the search works. It couldnt be that hard its the same chassis its not like putting a 454 bigblock in. If the kid wants to do it then let him. If he has a donor car it wont be that complicated there has been far more complicated swaps like a big block in a dodge caravan rwd conversion. If I had a donor s4 I would consider doing it myself.
