RE: RPMs seem high
I know absolutely jack shat about this. but i am going to toss out what seems to be a given question.
Auto/man?
When was the last time the tranny oil, and the diff oils were changed.
Was this at altitude or sea level.
Did you have a fat *** chick in your car the last time.
Did you gain 400lbs.?

Grouse, I hope you're not being serious... Altitude? Tranny fluids? Weight? Umm, NONE of this has anything to do with what your car is revving at... revs are determined by speed, and gearing. That's it! So the audi, whether it's auto or manual, simply has different gearing than your old car, and you're now revving higher.
Was your old car a 4 cylinder? V6's and V8's rev much lower than 4's.
EDIT: and the only thing that could be "wrong" with your car, to make it rev higher at speed, is a slipping clutch!
