if it's the actual tie rod, i'm not sure how hard that is to do yourself...but it's not very common for the whole thing to go bad...usually it's just the tie rod end, which is very easy to swap out.

whne i got new tires a few days ago they told me i should have this done in a few months and that they would be happy to do it for me. This was at Firestone so i think any shop taht can do alignment would be able to. They wanted 70 for the part and 100 for labor

Now that is want i call a good post . Thanks dude, there is a firestone just right up the street from my mechanic. If he says he cant do it i might as run this through their shop and see what they have to say about it.

bentframe is there anything like a TIRE ROD anyways.... well i called firestone and boy was i glad I called they can change my TIE (TEE) - ROD with alignment included for $350 compared to almost $500 by audi.

nope, there is no tire-rod on cars, just tie rods...you may want to ask how much of that price quote is for parts, because you can most likely buy the part at ecs and save yourself some cash..
