Default Review: Hawk HPS pads

I finally upgraded by front brakes to a 3.0 setup since I can't fit any BBK caliper behind my deep dish wheels.

I swapped out the OEM pads for Hawk HPS pads and went on a cruise to bed them in. After multiple hard passes I now know what brade fade feels like when everything gets way too hot.

When warmed up the Hawk HPS pads bite nicely and are very quiet.

Compared to the OEM pads where I would hammer the brakes and feel that I wasn't going to stop the HPS pads quickyy got rid of that issue.

I did four 80mph to 0 stops and the car stopped quickly and in a straight line with no pulling or noise.

If I used a more aggressive pad which dusts more I am sure the initial bite would be even better but the hawk HPS is performing as expected.

What is a 3.0 setup?

thanks for sharing. I recently needed new pads. I bought the mintex red because i am a cheap-azz. I was scared they wouldn't perform as well as the pads that were on there. (i had no idea what they were, but the car stops like crazy, so I assumed the pads were high-end). Well, the car stops as well as it did before, so i am happy. I would like to try some other pads down the road, especially once i get into autocrossing down the road.

What other pads have you used, and are the hawk pads significantly better? thanks!

A 3.0 setup = using carrier brackets from a Audi 3.0 in order to use the 1" larger rotor

1.8t

f: 288x25
r: 245x10

3.0

f: 312x25
r: 255x12

I haven't used any other pads other than the Hawks. I have tried my friend car who just upgraded to Carbotech Xp pads and those things bite like a monster.
