replacing HID blub D2S
Hi
My 2001 Audi A4 (B6) is telling me my dipped left bulb is blown. So after following a few guides here I removed the headlight housing at lunch today. The housing indicated that I had D2S bulbs but removing the bulb from the housing looked tricky. I left it for this evening to attempt to remove it. I took a crap pic with my phone which I have attached. Can someone confirm that this the D2S and any hints on removing it from the housing would be most appreciated. My understanding is that I can just replace the bulb and all will be sweet again?
Thanks in advance
Diarmuid

H6? Do you mean H7?
Also, for Diarmuid, HID bulbs are available in a lot of different color temperature ranges. OEM bulbs are all ~4300k temperature. If you buy a bulb from a dealer, you don't have to specify this. However, you will pay out the ying-yang probably. You could look into aftermarket HID bulbs as I'd imagine they'd fit the connectors (someone else with a B6 wanna confirm that?). If they will, you can buy a pair of bulbs for less than $50. By putting in one new bulb and having one old one, you may see a difference in beam color. Replace them with a matched set and you won't have to worry about that.

RE: replacing HID blub D2S
Thanks for the input guys. I have read about the different temp lights and will be going for the standard 4300k Philips. In fact I have sourced a pair for 50Euro on Ebay already. They seem ok (as in not some unbranded Chinese model) to me.
However what I am really looking for is someone to confirm that I am getting the correct bulb based on the picture (if that is possible). The headlamp was marked with D2S it's just that I didn't get an actual visual on the bulb itself. I might just take the headlight off again tomorrow just to confirm before I buy the new pair

RE: replacing HID blub D2S
D2S is basically a standard nomenclature for the bulb, indicating it's meant to go into a projector housing (the flip side would be a D2R bulb, for a reflector housing). Most companies sell only D2S bulbs now, since they work fine in reflector housings as well as projectors. D2S is not as important a designation as H7 (bulb style) is. Confirm the bulb style and order your HID bulbs with confidence.
