replacing the cv joint
alright so i bought an 96 a4 a few weeks ago. cv joints were dry rotted and some bushings were splitting. so i got the whole front end kit and have started putting it in, no problems really, just having some trouble getting the splines lined up while replacing the cv boot, any tips on this, or is there any kind of tool for it?
alright so after posting this i continued my searching and came upon these links
if your looking for break downs of this joint and anything else try this if you havnt been here allready..

RE: replacing the cv joint
No real tool for it, it should slide right on, if it doesn't DON'T FORCE IT!!! If its not going on easilly check the splines to see if they are knicked or anything, if they are file it down with a triangle file.
When you get the cv joint on there DO NOT BANG ON THE JOINT WITH A HAMMER EITHER! Screw in the hold hub bolt and bang on that to get the cv joint all the way on the shaft, you can fvck up the cv end by banging it with a hammer and you'll never get it back into the hub.
