Replacement speakers
At least one of my front and rear speakers are blown, I'm looking to fix this and debating finding used stock or aftermarket. What brands and sizes are people using in thier cars? I'm looking for nothing too crazy or overpowered and kinda want to keep the stock head unit in but am debating a smaller sub. This is for a 98 2.8q without Bose

RE: Replacement speakers
I am going to be putting in a full alpine system in a few weeks. I am going to be putting in some type R 6.5 rounds in the back and 5.25 components in the front. I will be putting a new head unit in as well though. I know there are plenty of people out there that have put in aftermarket speaker on a stock head unit though.

RE: Replacement speakers
if your going to replace your speakers then I think you might aswell get some decent aftermarket ones. check out http://www.crutchfield.com/. they'll tell you what fits and give you some recommendations.

RE: Replacement speakers
why would you think of even buying the cheap a$$ stock ones again? its 6.5" for the rear 2 and 4" up front. i got infinitys all around powered by a decent but cheap 800 watt 4 ch amp and i got a mono 400 watt going to the sub and i cant explain how great it sounds. if yur not into maddd bass like me just keep the sub just high enough so you can hear it. speakers were $180 for all 4 infinitysbut well worth it if you ask me. but if you want to keep it powered from the headunit then i guess whatever speakers you want, i recommend the crisp clean sounding infinitys

RE: Replacement speakers
Remember that the rear speakers are powered not by the head unit, but by a small amplifier attached to the driver's side rear speaker. This will have to be removed from the speaker and kept in the system if you are using the head unit.
