Default Replaced MAF problems came back

Hello everyone,

I was having issues with my 00 1.8t surging issues and boosting problems. My car is GIAC, exhuaust, DIY air box mod.

Originally i had boost surging issues, power fluxuating as i accelerated.

Now I had the GIAC flash removed from my ECU for trouble shooting purposes.
I drove it around and had the a coulple shops look at my car. But no one could really help. I went out on a limb and replaced my MAF seemed to cure all my problems. I drove the car for about a month and a half. Then last week i had my GIAC reinstalled, ran great, then i had to leave outta town for work, car sat for a week.

Got back today and it started to snow. So where i had the hole for my DIY air box mod i plugged it up. Then later on in the day my car fell into limp mode as i was driving, and the boost was starting to surge in and out, then later i started the car and it went into limp mode right away, as i drove for 10 minutes the CEL went off, my friend had a scanner so i hooked it up and got code P1128. Fuel trim code.

Its starting to do what it did before. Could it be my MAF going bad again, could it be dirty from the fact the DIY allows contaminated air from the wheel well into the air box. Might i need bigger injectors?

This is pissing me off my car just never runs right.

Thanks

P1128 = long term fuel trim, entire speed/ load bank 1 too lean,
probable causes are fuel pressure/ pump, leaking injector(s), intake/ exhaust leak, AIR system hose leak.

nothing to do with the MAF sensor that was doing its job

1-install a fpr gauge and check the psi ($30 @ jegs)
2-listen your injectors with a screw driver (google it for how to do)
3-make sure you have no leak in the system

Check for a vacuum leak, especially the 1/2" formed hoses near the intake manifold.
