Default Removing B5 rubbing strips

I've just bought a 1.8 T Sport ('96) and looking to clean up the outside a little. Already removed the splash guards and the rear was debadged when I bought it.

Does anybody know how the side rubbing strips are fixed onto the doors? I'm hoping its just something like 3M tape and that they aren't fixed through the bodywork.

should have left the splash guards on. u cant see them anyway. plus it protects ur engine when it rains or if ur on a gravel road.

I think there maybe some us/uk terminology mix up - I mean the mudflaps that mount behind the wheels.

The mudflaps just screw/clip on so just a five minute job and looks 100% better in my opinion.

Thanks for the pics. I meant the body coloured strips along the side, part way up the door, as in your final picture.
